NepaliFoodGPT ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Messages and queries — the questions you ask NepaliFoodGPT to generate responses.
Usage data — number of messages sent, session timestamps, and feature interactions.
IP address — used solely for rate limiting and abuse prevention.
Email address — collected when you create an account or upgrade to a paid plan.
Payment information — processed securely by Stripe. We never store your card details.
Device and browser data — browser type, operating system, and screen size for display optimisation.
2. How We Use Your Information
To provide and improve the NepaliFoodGPT service.
To process payments and manage your subscription.
To enforce usage limits and prevent abuse.
To send transactional emails (receipts, account notices) — no marketing without your consent.
To analyse usage patterns and improve the quality of AI responses.
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following trusted third parties to operate this service:
Anthropic — powers the AI responses. Your messages are sent to Anthropic's API. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
Supabase — stores user accounts and saved recipes. Data is stored on AWS infrastructure. See Supabase's Privacy Policy.
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days. IP-based rate limiting data is stored in memory only and cleared on server restart.
5. Your Rights
Under Australian privacy law, you have the right to:
Access the personal information we hold about you.
Request correction of inaccurate information.
Request deletion of your account and personal data.
Complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe your privacy has been breached.
6. Cookies and Local Storage
We use browser localStorage to remember your preferences (language, sidebar state) and to track your daily free message count. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
7. Children's Privacy
NepaliFoodGPT is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
